Resolution 04:43
What is the point Until you have a friend? Where do you live Does the border end? Hold onto my hand Look into my eye This is the land And that is the sky Resolution It was so many days To be away from you But it gave us a chance To find out who is who Although we know Nothing is to fear We’re still putting it off For another year Resolution (New) Resolution There’s gonna be a deluge No matter what you say There’s gonna be a deluge It’s gonna end that way

Forgiveness 03:20
Ooo Sigh--Can I accept this Shout--chance for forgiveness? Sigh--Can I accept this Shout--moment of relief? Sigh--You and me standing here Shout--alone? Sigh--With no one else around Release--will we find our way home? Who is it that you’re trying to forgive? Who is it that is simply not there? Who is it that you are trying to reach out to talk to? Look in your heart, what do you hold? Do you hold on too hard hold? You are the door, I am the key You are the door, will you set me free? Process, openness Process, openness Process, openness Process, release Ooo Process, openness Process, openness Process, openness Process, release Ooo

There is a lesson in the way we fight There a blessing in your battle cry Don’t pray for me, in the night, in the night, in the night Don’t pray for me, in the night, in the night, in the night Attempt the impossible Find out what’s possible Blind as a bat, why would you do that? Nobody prays for him In a world where the doctor’s always in I smell a rat, we need a cat Don’t pray for me, in the night, in the night, in the night Don’t pray for me, in the night, in the night, in the night Don’t pray for me, in the night, in the night, in the night Don’t pray for me, in the night, in the night, in the night Don’t pray for me, in the night, in the night, in the night Don’t pray for me, I am riding the light

Without It 05:05
Without it, without it, without it, without it Without it, without it, without it, without it Without it, without it, without it, without it Without it, without it, without it, without it Without hope, without fear Without feeling, without guilt Without wanting, without willfully wandering Without words We’re stuck in the sand standing two by two Stuck in the sand standing three by three Without waiting Without hating Without love Without pain Without blood Without it, without it, without it, without it Without it, without it, without it, without it How do we know that we are Really in this together? How do we are really still together? Without it, without it, without it, without it Without it, without it, without it --Without love, without pain Without blood

Hanged Man 03:49
A hanging man, in a tree, upside down looking at me I wanna know what is right and wrong If something is inside, lead me on Flowers in June, showers in May Records on the shelf that never get played A voice in the sky yellin’ at me What is wrong with the picture you see Ascended man, imagination Hanging in suspended animation Go outside it is a mirror But what’s reflected, it could be clearer Once you are there can you never get back? Once you’re there do you only see black? Ascended man, imagination Hanging in suspended animation Ascended man, imagination Hanging in suspended animation A hanging man, imagination Hanging in suspended animation

Of sons and daughters And rocky waters Fill the wine, drink your cup Into allusion Strawberry human “Totally Numan” They are loyal and brave But are they cold on the inside? Feelings oft’ for recent Reasons I adore Some new horizon And I want to know more But this is all I can understand Eagles at the bluff Riding on coastal train Crashing in mid air Into oblivion Lydian, so in love Just like house guests You are there, I am here On the couch with my problems This is a love song For descended matadors Who are forgotten Ghosted and ignored That are cheated and defeated This is a love song In regard to eagles But this is all I can understand Are talons And feathers Talons Feathers! Crashing! Balance! Talons! And salmon

By Bert Jansch Tell me, what is true love? Tell me, how shall I know? Shall there be a sign, like autumn That brings the winter snow? Well love is like a little boy Building castles in the sand And the higher he builds them The longer they stand And if someone did shoot down The white snowy dove Then your heart is filled with sorrow Like the pain of true love

Cup Sludge 05:13
Move around, move around Stir your cup, stir your cup With a spoon, with a spoon Move the sludge, move the sludge Move around, move around With your cup, with your cup Read the scene, read the scene Read it aloud, read it out loud What do you want honey? What do you want for breakfast? What do you want honey? What do you want for breakfast? Move around, move around Wash your shirt, wash your jeans See the world, see the world Through the screen, through the screen What do you want honey? What do you want for breakfast? What do you want honey? What do you want for breakfast? Oooo Tear the page, tear the picture Slide the chair underneath the table Reach for the keys waiting on the counter Karma is with you when you emerge, Ooo Tear the seam, open the mail, open the package Smell of paper, manilla envelope, lick the stamp Return to sender Move around, move yourself Move your cells, move your blood Rip it up and put it back together

about

Roundelay is LAKE's most cohesive, adventurous, and fully realized record to date with their own brand of sophisti-pop. It is rich, layered, developed, and at times, avant-garde. Odd time-signatures reign without being too mathy, and sprinkles of horn arrangements, grand piano, and pedal steel put the elevator in the new genre they dub from this moment forward, elevator punk.

To summarize the record, "LAKE got heavy!" was exuberantly yelled at a recent gig in their hometown on Whidbey Island, WA. The band agrees that their once lighter sound has drifted into the realm of "rock".

LAKE formed 14 years ago in Olympia, WA. Their song “Christmas Island” is the ending credits theme in popular Cartoon Network show, Adventure Time. Over the years, LAKE has collaborated with Northwest native Karl Blau extensively in the studio and on the road as his back-up band. They released records for historic indie label K (Beat Happening, the Microphones) for 6 years before jumping to German pop and experimental label Tapete/Bureau B for their latest release Forever or Never (2017). In 2020 LAKE is releasing their new album Roundelay with Seattle label OFF TEMPO. They are touring in February with Pinegrove in US and Japan in March and are planning more touring for Fall 2020.
